Discover the world of freediving at your own pace as a complete beginner, or advance your current diving abilities. You’ll have plenty of guidance with a focus on the fun of freediving without specific training objectives.
Dip your fins into freediving with the AIDA 1 course—no experience needed! This is all about finding your natural flow, feeling totally at ease underwater, and mastering techniques that make every dive smoother and more enjoyable. By the end, you’ll be gliding effortlessly down to 10m (33ft) with confidence.
Be inspired by the secrets of freediving and your natural physiological adaptations. This will be an adventure of fun and underwater bliss. Diving Africa, but more importantly, diving Seychelles is an exotic island experience for absolutely everyone.
Your AIDA 1 Freediving course will see you comfortably diving to depths of up to 10m, but this is not a requirement. We’ll be exploring breath-holding and diving in a comfortable and natural way without any performance requirements.
Before you dive in, here’s what you need: Be at least 17 (or 16 with parent/guardian consent), be able to swim 100m non-stop, and complete the standard AIDA freediving health/medical form. That’s it!

Prepare for 1 epic day of freediving at Beau Vallon from 9:30am to 4pm, with an hour lunch break.
THEORY: Equipment for freediving. Breathing for freediving. Equalisation techniques. Safety and buddying.
BREATHING AND RELAXATION: Optimal breathing techniques and learning how the breath alone can help you relax. Post-dive recovery breathing for safety.
CONFINED WATER SESSION: Static apnea training (practising breath holding on the surface). Understanding, experiencing and finding comfort with contractions. Safety and buddy techniques.
OPEN WATER: We’ll take a quick 15min boat ride from Beau Vallon. We will progress your depth adaptation comfortably by learning equalization, duck diving, body positioning, finning style, Free Immersion (pulling with your hands along the rope) and Constant Weight (using your legs/fins to kick along the rope), safety and buddying.
