Gear up for the best Lombok Diving Expedition; a unique Freediving and Conservation Expedition!
Trips like this are typically designed for scuba divers (no fair!) so, in collaboration with The Dorsal Effect and Gili Eco Trust, we present the ultimate Freediving Lombok experience combining super fun freediving, underwater exploration, and ecotourism – a fully immersive and totally unique apnea experience of the ocean conservation variety.
Diving Lombok comes with infinite picturesque bays with crystal clear water and beautiful coral reefs, perfect for fun diving and exploring. Sites we’ll visit include Pink Beach and a blacktip reef shark nursery (weather conditions permitting). We’re anticipating sunny days, clear skies, and ideal conditions with daily temperatures of 26°C / 78°F with waters averaging 27°C / 80°F and visibility reaching 30m / 98ft.
Lombok is the base of one of the largest shark fisheries in Indonesia. The Dorsal Effect (TDE) aims to provide alternative livelihoods to shark fishermen by engaging them in eco-tourism. During this trip, you will meet ex shark fishermen and their families, visit the shark market and be taken to beautiful freediving sites. Kathy, the founder of TDE, will join us to give us some insights into her conservation work.
Gili Eco Trust is an NGO based on Gili Trawangan initially founded to protect coral reefs around the Gili islands from destructive fishing methods such as dynamite fishing. It has since grown and expanded its activities from marine conservation to waste management and sustainable eco-tourism. Their Biorock project creates artificial reefs, restoring previously destroyed and overfished areas of the reef. We will join them to design and build a biorock, place the biorock onto the reef and explore the surrounding reefs.

Accommodation and Transfers – Free daily transfers to and from our activities are available from anywhere in Kuta, South Lombok (not to be confused with Kuta Bali). Here you’ll find plenty of accommodation options for all budgets with delicious local restaurants and cafes.
What’s Not Included – Flights, accommodation, dive gear, travel insurance and meals aside from lunch – we’ll provide lunches to keep you fueled for your freediving and conservation.
Please bring all of the travel essentials including:
Day 1 – 8.30am pick up from your accommodation to head out to explore different freediving sites. Lunch included. Return at 5pm.
Day 2 – 5.30am pick up from your accommodation to visit the shark market and processing plant. Lunch with the ex fishermen and their families on their island. Return at 3pm.
Day 3 – 8.30am pick up from accommodation to head out to explore different freediving sites. Lunch included. Return at 5pm.
Day 4 – 7am pick up from accommodation to head to Gili Trawangan. Spend the day with Gili Eco Trust constructing a biorock and freediving at the biorock reefs. Return at 7pm. If you would like to stay in Gili Trawangan instead of heading back to Lombok this is totally okay.

From Bali take a domestic flight or catch a fastboat to Lombok. Scoot flies directly to Lombok International Airport (LOP) from Singapore. Getting between the Islands is cheap and easy via one of the many local services available by public or chartered boat. No need to pre-book the local boats!
